Ως απάντηση της με ημερομηνία 1-4-09 επιστολής σας παραθέτουμε τις απόψεις μας για την καλύτερη προώθηση των πολιτισμικών στοιχείων της νήσου Σκοπέλου.

Οι απόψεις μας για την προβολή του τόπου μας μέσω της Ιστορίας, Γλώσσας, Διατροφής, Παραδόσεων και Τεχνών είναι οι ακόλουθες εκδηλώσεις πολιτισμικού ενδιαφέροντος σε κάθε επίπεδο. Όπως:

1) Επισκέψεις ομαδικές, εκδρομικές, περιπατητικές κ.α. στα ιστορικά μνημεία οπως είναι το Ασκληπιείο, τα Σεντούκια, ο Τάφος του Σταφύλου – Εκκλησίες – Ξωκλήσια – Μοναστήρια – Μουσεία.
Αναβίωση των Πανηγυριών – ομιλίες και προβολή ιστορικών και θρησκευτικών έργων και κειμένων, ντόπιων καλλιτεχνών – επιστημόνων.

2) Μαθήματα Ελληνικής Γλώσσας σε ομάδες κατοίκων της Σκοπέλου και άλλων χωρών απο φιλόλογο. Μαθήματα ομιλίας για την εξυπηρέτηση την καθημερινή στον τόπο μας καθώς και μετάφραση τουλάχιστον στην Αγγλικήν αποσπασμάτων απο βιβλία ιστορικού ενδιαφέροντος. Ομιλίες για την ζωή και το έργο ανθρώπων που έζησαν και ζούν στη Σκόπελο, καλλιτεχνών, ιστορικών, λαογράφων, συγγραφέων όπως οι Νιρβάνας, Δαπόντε, Καστοριάδης και σύγχρονοι.

3) Προβολή των τοπικών προϊόντων, όπως το δαμάσκηνο, το μέλι, το κρασί, το λάδι, τα ζωϊκά προϊόντα κ.λ.π. με επισκέψεις και ομιλίες σε φούρνους δαμασκήνων, μελισσοκομεία, οινοποιεία, ελαιοτριβεία και ταυτόχρονα προτάσεις για την προβολή ντόπιας μαγειρικής. Προβολή της κατασκευής του παραδοσιακού μας γλυκού του γάμου, με αναπαράσταση αρραβώνων.
Εντονη παρουσία παραγωγών και έκθεση προϊόντων και μοναδικών βοτάνων της Σκοπέλου.

4) Αναπαράσταση ή πραγματοποίηση γάμου Σκοπελίτικου με μουσικά όργανα – μπατίκια – στρώσιμο κρεββατιού κ.λ.π. Διατήρηση των καλοκαιρινών εθίμων όπως: Φωτιές τ’Αη Γιαννιού (Κλήδονας). Προβολές χειμερινών εθίμων όπως Μπράμδες, Τράτα για τις Απόκριες και προώθηση υλικού που ασχολείται με παραδόσεις, φωτογραφικό υλικό, βιβλία κ.λ.π. Εκθεση κεντημάτων σκοπελίτικων. Ομιλίες και επισκέψεις σε κεντήστρες φορεσιάς τοπικής (παπούτσια, βόλτιασμα) ή κατασκευής εγκλέ κ.α. Επείσης διάθεση τοπικής ενδυμασίας για φωτογράφιση τουριστών και οχι μόνο. Καλοκαιρινά δρώμενα, θεατρικά, ομιλίες για την ζωή του Σταφύλου του Αγνώντα, της Πεπαρήθου, κ.α. Αναβίωση των παιδικών παιχνιδιών του τότε. Τονισμός του μοναδικού για την Ελλάδα παραδοσιακού έθιμου ονομασίας του πρωτότοκου κοριτσιού που δίνει στη γυναίκα ιδιαίτερα τιμητική θέση, με το όνομα της γιαγιάς απο μητέρα.

5) Για τις τέχνες, μόνιμη έκθεση καλλιτεχνών κατοίκων της Σκοπέλου, ζωγράφων, γλυπτών, κεραμιστών, μαχαιράδων, καραβομαραγκών, ειδών λαϊκής τέχνης, κατασκευαστών κοσμημάτων, με έμφαση προβολής του νομίσματος της Πεπαρήθου, των λαογραφικών βιβλίων, και κατασκευής κούκλας Σκοπελίτισσας κ.α.
Κατασκευή χάρτη με τους χώρους έμπνευσης όλων των καλλιτεχνών, καθώς και ενός χάρτη με μόνο τα ιστορικά, αρχαιολογικά και θρησκευτικά μνημεία και μουσεία.
Μαθήματα σε ομάδες επισκεπτών αγγειοπλαστικής, κατασκευής καραβιών κ.α. Εκδηλώσεις και μαθήματα μουσικής, έμφαση στο ρεμπέτικο και παραδοσιακό, στήριξης της τοπικής τραγουδοποιϊας σε Διεθνές επίπεδο (Φεστιβάλ).
Λειτουργία Κινηματογράφου και επαναλειτουργία του Ραδιοφωνικού Σταθμού, για οχι μόνο τη προβολή επιχειρηματιών, σε 2 τουλάχιστον γλώσσες.
Ετσι ο επισκέπτης απο τον χώρο διαμονής θα μπορεί να γνώρίζει για τις εκδρομές, τις εκδηλώσεις, τον καιρό, τα δρομολόγια, τις εκθέσεις και ο’τι άλλο θα κάνει τη διαμονή του ενδιαφέρουσα και εύκολη.

- 31/01 2009: Kopsimo tis pitas at the kafenio Pablos, with many members and non-members of the association. Isabel showed her slides concerning the Carnival tradition on Skopelos, big interest.

The mayor, who was present, asked me if I could find 10 persons to participate in the education so as to create a local fire station for volunteers. I agreed to try.

I immediately took contact with the Athens-based director of Fire Stations in Greece, who had been here representing the EMAK. He explained that it was not necessary to go to Saloniki or another town to complete this education, but that the director of Skopelos Fire Station had the competence to teach these matters.

I talked with Dimitris, the head of the fire station here, and he agreed that he could organize this. I then contacted Pantelis Patsis, who agreed to help to find the participants. After that I had a meeting with the mayor and the head of the forest department, and they were happy about the news. So all this has led to the initializing of a local fire station for volunteers.

They should be supplied with a house, a car and different equipment. This initiative is now promoted by Pantelis Patsis, and must go through the responsible for fire protection at the Dimos, Georgos Patsis.

- 22/02 2009: Meeting at the Dimos with Mr. Zaxaropoulos from EKPOL, Bolos, and other cultural organizations on Skopelos, inviting proposals for cultural activities during the summer/rest of the year to be supported by EKPOL.

During February 2009, preparation of 2 Carnival Events. Several meetings took place at the library with Eleni, Boula and Katherina from the school, Katherina Betsani, Eleni Schellhofer, Isabel and kgn. Preparation of poster and invitations by Isabel and Eleni. Katherina Betsani took contact with the elderly persons, and prepared for the activation of the dance group.

- 27/02 2009: Carnival Event at the Klisto Gymnastirio with all the schoolchildren from the gymnasio and the lykeio. Introduction speech by kgn, Show with slides/Isabel. Dancing with elderly man, Nikos, who were singing local songs. Although ice-cold, a success.
- 28/02 2009: Carnival Event at the Celebration Hall at the Dimotiko. Introduction speech by kgn, Show with slides by Isabel, children’s folklore group dancing with Nikos singing, then dancing with the dance teachers. Totally packed hall, big success.

Activities in the Cultural Association September-October 2008

Skopelos’ Cultural Association of Active Citizens organized a meeting with civil engineer Aleksiou Roditou the 28th of September 2008 in collaboration with the Municipality and with the gracious support from the Library at the Public School. Aleksiou Roditou is specialized in earth-quakes and preventive construction of buildings and has worked many years as a ministerial adviser and lecturer. Furthermore she has supported the realization of the State Program for Adult Education “Prostatevo ton eauto mou kai tous allous” on Skiathos. Her scientific and sober lecture, illustrated with many slides, was greatly appreciated by the audience. We got helpful advice about how to make a dangerous situation as little harmful as possible. One very important point was to plan where to seek refuge during the earth-quake and decide where to unite with our beloved ones after such an event. Everybody in the family should be aware of this rescue plan. Where is it best to hide? Where do I seek the others afterwards?
The meeting with Aleksia Roditou was also meant as a support for the initiative to realize the above mentioned program “Prostatevo ton Eauto mou kai tous Allous” also on Skopelos, an initiative which had been launched at the end of the year 2007 by an active citizen.
Thanks to the common effort of many Skopelitans and employees at the Municipality, the Program is now up and will be running through 100 hours until Christmas. It started the 29th of October, and to this date The Red Cross has made a 3 day seminar of First Aid in theory and practice, and the KOMAK (The Air Force Mobile Unit for Action in case of Urgencies) has shown, in pictures and with examples on the ground (4 hours of exercises performed with about 45 participants on Skopelos’ Sports Stadium) how to help imprisoned victims in case of an earth-quake. The detailed program for the rest of the Seminar can be obtained at the Municipality.
Support to the important initiative of opening up and cleaning the walking paths (monopatia) on Skopelos, realized in an ongoing effort through many years from another active citizen, has come in September from a group of active members of the CAAC in old Klima who, although not living here through the whole year, has promised their active help to this initiative from the spring season. This should be seen in connection with the information in the aug/sept. edition of the newspaper that the Municipality of Skopelos has obtained an important sum to reestablish monopatias on the island. Here a collaboration seems clearly appropriate!
In October 2008 another active citizen launched an initiative to protect the beauty of Skopelos by cleaning unauthorized dumps of rubbish on the island. A group of 16 persons cleaned up the beach of Kastani, and a few days later the focus was on the beach of Milia where the cleaning action already has lasted 2 days, and there is more to be done. Another planned action is the cleaning up of the beach in Skopelos town that starts on Sunday the 9th of November at 11 o’clock. Each time the Municipality has delivered the bags to be filled with rubbish and afterwards has come to collect them. Everybody is warmly welcome to join these cleaning actions, which are going to continue throughout the year.

Other important activities concerning the culture and nature on Skopelos are underway. Information will be published in the next edition of the newspaper.
